We believe that a biblical view of church leadership is an absolute essential for the health, growth, and maturity of the local body. The Apostle Paul exhorted Titus to ‘appoint elders’ in the local churches to oversee the ministry and protect the flock from false teaching and false teachers. Godly, qualified men are to ‘exhort in sound doctrine’ and ‘refute those who contradict’ (Titus 1:9). The Scriptures consistently teach that spiritual leadership is servant leadership (Luke 22:24; 1 Peter 5:3-4). Instead of ‘lording over’ others, spiritual leaders serve the body and model godliness through their character, attitudes, and actions. It is through the equipping ministry of such leaders that the church grows spiritually and is energized to do the work of ministry (Eph 4:11-16).
